چکیده

determined daily for 10 days. The morphology of wires was observed using a seanning electron microscope, After imrnersion for 10 days, the initial micrehardness of the wires deereased by O.3-5.6% depending on the test solution. Dyract AP (DA) and F2000 (F2) (compomers) released signifieantly more fluoride than the ether resin products (composite resins) regardless of the test solution, In pH 2,5 solution, both DA and F2 released 40-45 ppmlday fiuoride for five to six days. As for the wires in contact, they did not show any visible modification in surfaee morphology. Therefore, despite the released fluoride, wires in contact with the fluoride-containing resteratives were not damaged regardless of the pH value of test solution.

Galvanic Corrosion of and Ion Release from Various Orthodontic Brackets and Wires in a Fluoride-containing Mouthwash.

Background and aims. This study compared the galvanic corrosion of orthodontic wires and brackets from various manufacturers following exposure to a fluoride mouthwash. Materials and methods. This study was conducted on 24 lower central incisor 0.022" Roth brackets of four different commercially available brands (Dentaurum, American Orthodontics, ORJ, Shinye). The effect of fluoride exposure on the load-deflection properties of superelastic nickel-titanium-based orthodontic archwires.

BACKGROUND It has been demonstrated that fluoride prophylactic agents may cause hydrogen absorption in NiTi wires and degrade their mechanical properties. AIMS To investigate the effect of a fluoride mouthwash on load-deflection characteristics of three types of nickel-titanium-based orthodontic archwires. METHODS Twenty maxillary 0.016 inch round specimens from each of the single-strand Ni...

Effect of Sodium Fluoride Mouthwash on the Frictional Resistance of Orthodontic Wires

Objectives The friction between the brackets and orthodontic wire during sliding mechanics inflicts difficulties such as decreasing the applied force and tooth movement and also the loss of anchorage. Therefore, many studies have focused on the factors that affect the friction. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of 0.05% sodium fluoride mouthwash on the friction between orthodon...

Effects of Fluoride on NiTi Orthodontic Archwires: An X-ray Diffraction Study

Objective: To explore the changes in nickel-titanium (NiTi) archwires after exposure to fluoride-containing acetic acid solutions. Materials and methods: Preformed rectangular NiTi wires were immersed in either an acidulated fluoride solution, a neutral fluoride solution or distilled water (control) for 1.5 hours at 37°C. After immersion, the unloading force values at four deflection points wer...

Effect of Fluoride on Nickel-Titanium and Stainless Steel Orthodontic Archwires: An In-Vitro Study

OBJECTIVES The commonly used Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) archwires in orthodontic treatment are often exposed to fluoride-containing mouthwashes. The aim of this in-vitro study was to evaluate and compare the corrosion resistance of three commercially available NiTi archwires exposed to 0.05 wt% and 0.2 wt% fluoride mouthwashes. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three different types of NiTi archwires, 0.016″...
